Evening Grosbeak Described as New to Science (Cooper 1825)

COOPER, William. 1825. Description of a new species of grosbeak inhabiting the Northwestern Territory of the United States. Annals of the Lyceum of Natural History of New York 1(2):219-222.—The original description of the Evening Grosbeak (Coccothraustes vespertinus) based on a specimen collected by Henry Schoolcraft near Sault St. Marie, in what would soon become Michigan's Chippewa County, in April 1823.
